The Daily Memo | February 2, 2023 | Lies We Believe

Listen

I saw a photo recently where a banana was standing in front of a mirror. From the cameras perspective the real banana was beautifully ripe and perfectly yellow, just the way you want it to look before peeling. The banana reflected in the mirror was brown, bruised and battered. The image reflected back to my banana friend looked a whole lot different than the reality of what this inanimate object looked like from mine or anyone else’s perspective.

In the parallel universe of human reality most of us see ourselves in a completely different way than other people do and most certainly in a completely different way than God does.

Why is that?

Lies believed break the circle of love and trust.

No one escapes the lies the enemy perpetrates in our life. It’s not possible. Whether from well-intentioned individuals, or ill-intentioned people that are dead set against us. Most of those people have wounds of their own that need attention. Lies are commonplace in the world where we reside. The enemy has been telling them since the beginning and continues to do so because they’re an effective tool to take us out of the battle. To sideline us for at least this lifetime.

We must say no! No to any agreement we’ve made that we’re not good enough. That God doesn’t really love us and he’s abandoned us to fend for ourselves.

Let’s focus on what is true about you once more.

You are accepted.

You are secure.

You are significant.

And that’s the Memo.
