The Daily Memo | December 12, 2023 | One Clear Path

David Whyte, the Welsh Poet, wrote, “When we discover what seems like a clear path, what we’re really discovering is our place in that gravitational field, in that trajectory, from the deep, intimate sense of origin in our body that lies below the horizon of our understanding, out to as far a horizon as we can understand and then – beyond it.”

Spiritually speaking it’s not obvious where David Whyte lands, but in his writing there’s an element of truth. The clear path is not always clear, but it can be obvious. As a Christ-follower we do have a gravitational field, a trajectory that lies far beyond the horizon into eternity. Yet, that path is for today. That path is an intentional one ordained by our Creator God. We simply need to step into what He has for each and every one of us.

Purpose seems elusive, but God is not. He wants to develop a deeper intimacy with us and unveil His plan and His glory.

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” (2 Corinthians 3:18 ESV)

Being transformed into His image and likeness, His character and reflection is our truest purpose. How that breaks down into calling or ministry or profession is less important than the mission of following Him daily. It all gets worked out in His timing.

He attends to the details of life when we attend to our one clear path. Love God. Love others, and see lives changed by Christ.

And that’s the memo.
