The Daily Memo | December 29, 2023 | No Tomorrow Guaranteed

We all felt the pain of the moment when it was reported that Michele, a 61-year-old women, had died tragically when a propane tank exploded in the office at a small local motel in our community. She was a night auditor there and had worked for the family-owned business for 34 years.

Our hearts are hurting, even though we may not have known her personally.

The headlines in today’s newspaper read: “The Most Loving” – Hundreds gather to honor woman who died in hotel explosion. “If you knew Michele, I guess you already knew she was the most loving, caring, giving person I ever knew,” Joe (her husband) said. “I think one thing she would want, don’t let this spoil your Christmas, but I urge you to hug your friends and family like never before. Because there is no tomorrow guaranteed for anybody.”

Rarely has there been spoken such profound truth.

…”yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.” (James 4:14)

Take the time during this holiday season to tell your family and friends how much they mean to you. Express gratitude to God and others for the life He’s provided in and through you. Granted, it may not look the way you wanted or expected, but He does love you and has a special plan for your life. Yet, tomorrow is not guaranteed.

And that’s the memo.
