Room to Grow | The Daily Memo | March 8, 2024

I hate to move. I know, hate is a strong word. But I’ve moved my total household at least 6 times that I can remember. I have no fond memories to draw from.

It was total chaos in the house for weeks before and after. Stuff was strewn everywhere while trying to purge. By purge I mean, sell, toss, giveaway, or keep all the paraphernalia that had accumulated over the years. I have a headache just thinking about it, even now.

Colleen and I decided we’re not moving until Jesus comes.

The pruning process is a painful one. But the only way to take that next step in life is to eliminate the dead wood. Whether it’s moving from one home to another, or one place in our lives that needs reshaping to a newer and more healed-up version, it can be an agonizing experience.

But God…. Wants to peel back another layer of the onion to reveal our true self. The one he created us to be. The one that is unique to us. And the one that brings his Kingdom to earth until he calls us home. Our home in eternity where we’ll never move again.

God provides us the room to grow in our brokenness. Let the pruning begin.

“He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be more fruitful.” John 15:2

And that’s the memo.
