Disoriented I Am | The Mid-Week Memo | May 8, 2024

I’m not quoting Yoda here. Disorientation is exactly what I’ve been experiencing as of late.

The symptoms are many. From spraining my ankle in a quick turnaround ascent up the basement steps, to running over an 8-inch curb and subsequently driving that car into a cabinet in the garage. Then there’s just the fog of scattered thoughts as I replay the entire day and plan the next with random rewrites racing in my mind. My “to-do” list gets shuffled 4 times a day with most of what I want to accomplish pushed to tomorrow.

I know that sounds like most days for some of you, but for me, it is simply disorienting.

Is there something nefarious going on here? I think so. The enemy has been ankle-biting for weeks now. It’s not random. A flooded podcast studio, Colleen’s migraine clusters and fatigue for days on end. All of this happening as we expand our reach to more and more inmates in prison, not only locally, but nationally in partnership with God Behind Bars on the PandoApp. As ministry becomes more intense so does the spiritual warfare around it.

The solution is hiding in plain sight. As Jesus points out, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33; ESV)

That tribulation comes in many forms. The symptoms appear as 1st world problems, but the disorientation is real. As I pray against the enemies’ efforts to derail our mission, I want to encourage you to do the same. As I speak to other believers it’s obvious that this tactic is being employed around the globe by the one who hates us. Divisive discourse, war, unrest, and false teachers drawing even the most seasoned Christ-followers away from the truth of God’s Word.

Put on your armor folks. Pray against the enemy, for clarity and wisdom to fight on.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

And that’s the mid-week memo.

Steve
