Your opinion!
A friend shared this with me recently. I had to share it with you.
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
• Why it fits: This shows that God wants us to trust His wisdom over our own opinions.
Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
• Why it fits: This makes it clear that God’s thinking and perspective are far beyond ours — another reason why our opinion isn’t in the Bible.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
• Why it fits: Scripture is God-breathed – not man-made — and it’s all we need for truth and guidance.
Romans 3:4 “Let God be true though every one were a liar…”
• Why it fits: Even if every human has an opinion, God’s truth stands alone.
John 21:25 “And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which, if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.”
• Why it fits: This verse indicates that not everything Jesus did or taught is recorded in the Bible, implying that there is more to God’s revelation than what is written.
Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”
• Why it fits: This verse highlights that there are mysteries and secrets in God’s will that are not revealed to humanity, indicating that some truths remain outside the biblical narrative.
John 16:12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.”
• Why it fits: Here, Jesus acknowledges that there are deeper truths that were not shared at the time, suggesting an ongoing revelation that may extend beyond the scriptures.
And that’s the mid-week memo.
