Can You Hear Him Now? | The Mid-Week Memo | October 29, 2025

“For God does speak—now one way, now another—though no one perceives it.” — Job 33:14 (NIV)

We live in a world flooded with noise. Notifications, headlines, and to-do lists fill the space where silence once was. Yet even in the chaos, God is speaking—always. He never stops communicating; the problem is that we’ve forgotten how to listen.

The book of Job reminds us that God “does speak—now one way, now another.” He speaks through the brilliance of His creation, through the quiet tug of conscience, through the power of His Word, and through the gentle whisper of His Spirit. The sunrise that breaks through the clouds, the conviction you feel when your heart turns toward what is right, the Scripture that comes alive just when you need it—each is a divine conversation waiting to be heard.

The question isn’t “Is God speaking?” The question is, “Am I listening?”

Romans 1 tells us that God’s invisible qualities are clearly seen through what He has made. Psalm 19 declares that the heavens pour forth speech every day. Even your daily blessings—food, breath, the kindness of others—are His testimony of love (Acts 14:17). God’s communication is constant, not occasional.

But hearing requires posture. The prophet Elijah didn’t find God in the wind, earthquake, or fire. He heard Him in a still, small voice (1 Kings 19:11–12). That’s the same whisper that reaches through our cluttered thoughts today.

Take a moment right now. Step outside. Look at the sky. Breathe in the air He gives freely. Ask, “Lord, what are You saying to me right now?” Then wait. Because He is speaking—to all people, all the time. You don’t have to chase His voice. You simply need to make room to hear it.

And that’s the mid-week memo.

Steve
