The Daily Memo | September 30, 2020 | I Call Her Sparkles

You know that nickname you have for your spouse? I have one too. The most delightful person I know I call Sparkles. (Here comes a fun memo)

On our first date, Colleen decided to buy a new sweater blouse – that’s what I’ll call it. It was pretty. In fact, it glistened from every angle. A little like she does. I thought it was nice until….. Everywhere we went sparkles were shed along the way. The sidewalk, the restaurant, the theater, and last but certainly not least the front seat of my car – and carpet.

There’s something you need to know about me.

Did you ever get a greeting card with those little sparkly flakes all over them? You open up the card and it proceeds to shed all over you. I’m not a fan – in case you ever decide to send me a card. As delightful as my now wife was, her sparkles left behind in my car weren’t. Especially for someone with a little OCD in him. I call it OC since it’s not a disorder for me.

I couldn’t help myself. Even SHE didn’t like it and there’s nothing OC about Colleen. Other initials come to mind like ADD but certainly not OCD.

Don’t tell anyone, but the sweater blouse was never to be heard from again. But her nickname is echoed daily in our household.

My Sparkles.

I’m not sure why I told you that story. Maybe just to put a smile on your face today. Go hug your spouse and thank God for the ones you love.

And that’s the memo.

Steve
