The Daily Memo | August 4, 2023 | In the Last Days

In 2nd Timothy 3, it’s disheartening to read this list Paul makes of what people will be like in the last days, yet it shows us that as society gets darker, we as Christians have an amazing opportunity to shine brighter. “For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.”

We don’t have to be like the world. Actually, we shouldn’t!

Christ is who compels us to go from lovers of self to lovers of God. Instead of being proud and arrogant, we have an opportunity to show what it looks like to be humble and live for something greater than ourselves. Instead of finding our worth in our bank accounts, job titles, or religious activities, we find our worth in Him. Instead of appearing to be religious on the outside, we throw off legalism and exchange it for our relationship with Christ.

And that’s the memo.
